Situated between Dawlish and Torquay, Teignmouth is a traditional seaside town and a working commercial shipping port located on the estuary of the river Teign. Teignmouth's main export from the port is ball clay which mined locally at Kingsteighton. The port imports goods such as animal feed, fertilizer, timber and building materials.
The seaward side of the town features an elegant crescent of Georgian buildings and a promenade that, alongside the beach, stretches the length of the town and boasts a Victorian pier. The estuary side of the town is a lively place of fishing boats, beach huts and waterside inns, with the village of Shaldon just across the water.
To keep you enterainted in Teighmouth, as well as the beach, located on the seafront there is a popular children's play area, new adventure golf course and multi use games area.
