At the heart of Stoke Gabriel is the church of St Mary, which has an 800 year old yew tree in the churchyard. Close to the church is an apple orchard – perfect for picnics – where the ancient tradition of wassailing, the blessing of the apples, is still carried out each year in Stoke Gabriel.
The mill pond at the bottom of the village is perfect for crabbing with the kids and there are great walks along the banks of the river. The River Shack serves snacks, drinks and ice creams to Stoke Gabriel’s many visitors.

Stoke Gabriel is a 10-15 minute drive from Totnes or Paignton. A bus service operates between Stoke Gabriel and Paignton, where there is a train station. A bus operates between Stoke Gabriel and Totnes on Friday when there is a market in Totnes.
