St Mawgan
St Mawgan in north Cornwall is a traditional, sleepy Cornish village. St Mawgan is situated only a few miles from the popular tourist resorts of Newquay and Watergate Bay. The village itself is located to the west of the wooded Vale of Lanherne.
St Mawgan Parish church is the focal point of the village. The church was inhabited by the Arundells of Lanherne from around 13th to 18th centuries. Also located within the village is a cricket ground, ancient inns and a convent.
St Mawgan is also home to the RAF search and rescue helicopters that service the region. The RAF have been based in St Mawgan since 1951 as a Coastal Command maritime patrol aircraft base.
Newquay Cornwall Airport is also located on the outskirts St Mawgan. Newquay Cornwall airport has expanded over recent years and now offers flights from a variety of airlines including British Airways, BMI Baby and Ryan Air.

Being situated close to the sea, St Mawgan is a great base to plan your Cornwall holiday. There are a host of water sport activities for all the family to enjoy including surfing, wind surfing and kite surfing. There are a variety of family attractions too that are all easily accessible by car. Newquay Zoo, The China Clay Country Park and Pencarrow House are all within a 30 minute drive.
