Plymouth is an easy city to reach as the M5 leads onto the A38 which will take you straight down to the city. Plymouth also has it’s own airport and mainline train line to London. Plymouth is a great city to stay in for exploring the rest of Devon. You have all the major road and rail links that you need to get around. Plymouth is close to both the coast and the countryside.

If you are looking for a beach holiday, there are many in the area, including Looe, Bigbury and Salcombe, all within a short drive.  Don’t forget that Plymouth Docks allows you to catch the ferry across to Europe on more than a daily basis.

Plymouth itself is steeped in history and tradition, ranging from the maritime history from the Barbican to the infamous distillery of Plymouth Gin. Plymouth has many attractions that can be visited including visiting Plymouth Maritime Museum to shopping at the new Plymouth Drake’s Circus Mall.

If sport, is an option, then Plymouth visitors may like to watch a game of football with Plymouth Argyle, or partake in the various water sports that are available down on Plymouth Hoe.

When visiting Plymouth, there are many exciting and new areas of the city that are being re-generated. Dining out in Plymouth is always exciting as there are many different cuisines on offer. The nightlife in Plymouth is good, with many acts and musicals visiting Plymouth Pavillions.

Plymouth may not be the capital city of the South West, but is certainly competition for Exeter.
