Okehampton lies in West Devon close to the border with Cornwall.  Settlements have been established since the stone and bronze ages which have been discovered in the hills around Okehampton.

Today Okehampton is an attractive Devon market town in a central location within the South West. Being close to the A38 trunk road, Okehampton is within easy driving range of the region’s top attractions and towns.

For beach and coast lovers, the North Devon coast is around 20 miles away from Okehampton.  If you prefer city life, both Exeter and Plymouth are also within a 20 mile drive, reinforcing Okehampton’s claim to be a great holiday base.

Okehampton is fast becoming known as a popular centre for walkers, given its location on the edge of Dartmoor.  To the north of Okehampton, walkers will also find many areas of natural beauty to explore on the Tarka Trail and The Ruby Country. Further north, Exmoor is also within reach.

The town of Okehampton itself offers a wide range of activities for visitors.  Fishing, horse riding and golf are all available locally, while Okehampton cycle route is a 30 mile circular tour around local villages.

Other attractions in the locality of Okehampton include the Museum of Dartmoor Life in Okehampton itself, Okehampton Station and The Dartmoor Railway, The Miniature Pony Centre and the Farmer’s Market in the Market Hall, again in Okehampton itself.
