Full Property Description

Nestled quietly in tranquil countryside beside an established lake in the hamlet of Mill Cross and at the foot of the stunning Quantock Hills (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), Woodpecker is an exclusive luxury timber Eco-Holiday Home.

An ideal base with lots to explore in the area

The property offers the perfect blend of peace and quiet with easy access to many amenities and attractions. Walk out the front door and the sound of birdsong and nothing else is striking - a true countryside idyll. Yet the market town of Taunton is no more than 2 miles away, offering a wide range of retail and dining options, along with a theatre and multi-screen theatre.

The Quantock Hills are also on the doorstep; the first designated Area of Natural Beauty in England and are ideal for more energetic visitors including walkers and cyclists. Also in the area are the West Somerset Railway, Hestercombe Gardens and for younger visitors, the Fun Farm. Despite it's central location in Somerset, the coastline is only 15 miles away, while Exeter, Glastonbury and Yeovil are all easily driveable.

Woodpecker is perfectly placed with easy access by rail or road. It is within 10 minutes of Taunton’s mainline rail station (London Paddington 1 hour 40 mins), and major road links (M5 Junction 24 & 25).

About the Eco-homes

These fantastic Eco-Homes are manufactured in Finland using the highest quality, slow grown timber with the most advanced manufacturing and construction methods in Europe. Combine this with the latest in cutting edge Carbon Neutral Technologies and a high level of luxury and you have one of those rare opportunities in life to have your cake and eat it.

Enjoying the countryside could not be easier as whichever way you turn at the gate you will find yourself strolling or cycling along miles of leaf lined lanes with rolling fields and the Quantock Hills and Exmoor stretching out before you.

Just a short stroll away is the sought after village of Kingston St Mary with its beautiful church, thatched cottages, mews and a welcoming local pub.

Nearby activities include local stables, with trails across the bridleways and hill trails. Fishing in the local lakes and rivers or enjoy watching the Somerset County Cricket Club. Fishing is also available on the private lake - day passes are available on request.

Sensitive management of the existing “neighbours”, badgers, foxes, bats and all manner of birdlife together with the creation of new habitat, has resulted in a significant increase in the numbers and variety of flora and fauna at Mill Meadow. Every new Mill Meadow Eco Holiday Home is also fitted with at least one bird and bat box and all landscaped areas are carefully managed to encourage and maintain the diversity of wildlife. The nearby Quantock Hills and Exmoor offer further exciting encounters with nature's treasures.
