Map & Local Area
Clovelly is an unspoilt historic fishing village set on a hillside with narrow cobbled streets and whitewashed 16th century cottages that lead down to a small harbour. To maintain the peace and tranquility traffic is not allowed through the streets and must be parked at the top of the village.  For those with walking difficulties there is a Land Rover service that ferries visitors up and down the hill.

The village of Clovelly is privately owned and as such there is a small fee payable at the visitor centre (the fee includes entrance to two museums and parking).

Much of the charm of Clovelly is retained through local craftsmen and their use of traditional materials to help maintain the style of the mid 19th Century.

The village has a selection of art, craft and gift shops, galleries, museums, tea rooms and pubs. It hosts many events throughout the year including the Fantastic Fudge Hunt at the beginning of April, Clovelly Maritime Festival mid July, The Lobster and Crab feast at the beginning of September and the switch on of the Christmas lights at the beginning of December.

Hartland
Home to the 18th Century Abbey, Hartland is a small village most famous for the cliffs and their dramatic views over the North Devon coastline.  It is a haven of tranquility and the perfect retreat for anyone wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of modern life.

Within the village you will find village shops stocking general provisions, craft shops, galleries, tea rooms, pubs and a health spa.

If you fancy exploring the unspoilt flora and fauna of the countryside by foot you can choose from the South West Coast Path, The ancient woodland areas of Hartland , Brownsham Moor (a site of Special Scientific Interest) and the Hartland Peninsula. It really is a walker’s paradise whether you're a seasoned rambler or just want a leisurely stroll.

Places of interest you may want to visit include:
  • Hartland Abby
  • Clovelly Court Gardens
  • Docton Mill Gardens
  • Hartland Quay
  • Clovelly Quay
  • Milky Way Adventure Park
