The South West Coastal Path winds round the rugged coast from Torbay, down the steep streets of Kingswear, across the ferry and through the heart of Dartmouth into the picturesque countryside and impressive coastline of the South Hams. These elegant yachting towns, situated on either side of the River Dart, provide the perfect base for exploring on land or on water, with the open sea a short sail up the estuary and the tranquil charms of the River Dart in the other direction.

Full Property Description

The Old Chapel is an elegant and contemporary converted chapel tucked away in the tranquil village of Stoke Fleming just a short drive from the beach at Blackpool Sands, beautiful coastal walks and the lively and picturesque town of Dartmouth and the River Dart.

Converted from an old chapel, this property has been refurbished to the highest of standards whilst keeping the original charm and character. Flooring throughout is solid French oak, apart from the kitchen which is natural green Spanish slate. The owners have thoughtfully included extras such as; an IPod port in the wall allowing music to flow throughout the house - each room can be isolated through an amp in the window seats, a phone in the living area and 2 bedrooms allowing incoming calls and wireless broadband for guests who bring their own laptop. Plus for younger guests you will find a high chair, travel cot, 3 stair gates, a steamer and intercom.

Nearby there is a post office, village store plus a village pub within walking distance.

Dartmouth is steeped with architectural beauty, pretty narrow lanes and natural elegance, and is widely known as the jewel in the South West. Renowned for its boutique shops and galleries, delightful delicatessens, gourmet restaurants, harbour side and port it has something to suit every taste.

Please note: This property will only accept 7 night bookings commencing on a Saturday in all school holiday weeks. Short breaks and other arrival days may be considered please call the bookings team to discuss.

There is no rear garden to this property, the front courtyard with patio furniture is the only available outside space.

Living

  • Light and airy open plan living area with a solid oak floor, high ceilings and large picture windows with glass juliette balconies showcasing views towards the sea and lower village.
  • Entertainment is provided by a wall mounted 37" flat screen TV with Freeview, a DVD player, an IPod port with ceiling speakers that can play throughout the house, a Playstation 2 with games, telephone for incoming call and broadband for guests who bring their own laptop.
  • Furnished with a two seater and  three seater sofa, 2 chairs, 4 window seats, coffee tables with lamps, a wood burning stove and plus a selection of books.
  • For younger guests there is a high chair, travel cot, 3 stair gates, a steamer and intercom.

Kitchen

  • A beautifully appointed kitchen finished in walnut veneer with solid oak worktops and natural green Spanish slate floor.
  • A stainless steel range style cooker with double oven and halogen hob, a large American style fridge/freezer and dishwasher. There is also a washer/dryer in bedroom 4.
  • Full utensils and accessories including microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, cafetiere, iron and ironing board.

Dining

  • A mahogany topped table with 8 seats situated in open plan kitchen area.

Sleeping

Bedroom one with en-suite

  • Located on the first floor. Twin multi-paned window seats with solid oak reveals and shutters, exposed ceiling beams and built-in cupboard.
  • Furnished with a king-size bed, 2 bedside cabinets both with lamps, 8 drawer chest, mirror, flatscreen TV, and phone.
  • En-suite comprises a Lefroy Brooks free standing bath on chrome claw feet. A pair of handmade Travertine marble wash basins imported from Turkey. Lefroy Brooks Archipelago shower with 8” shower head. "Keuco" state of the art large wall hung electric bathroom cabinet. Spanish "Crema Marfil" marble wall and floor tiles. Laufen wall hung wc.

Bedroom two with en-suite

  • Located on the second floor this room has exposed oak beams, solid French oak floorboards and a crows nest view to the sea. Please note there are raised beams on the floor that require stepping over.
  • Furnished with 3x single beds, fitted wardrobe, 1x 3 drawer chest, 1x 5 drawer chest, a table and lights.
  • En-suite shower room with Fired Earth shower cubicle with chrome riser and 8” shower head. Hand made Flaminia wash basin and Laufen wc.

Bedroom three with 'Jack & Jill' en-suite

  • Located on the ground floor this room has twin windows, solid French oak floorboards, solid walnut wardrobe, double bed with 2 bedside tables both with lamps, 1x 6 drawer chest, 1x 8 drawer chest, mirror and phone.
  • Door to bathroom shared with bedroom four.
  • Bathroom with Victoria & Albert "Quarrycast" free standing bath, solid walnut washstand with porcelain "Wok" wash basin, concealed Lefroy Brooks shower, Spanish marble "Crema Marfil" wall and floor tiles.

The Den with 'Jack & Jill' en-suite

  • Located on the lower ground floor, this room is ideal for a quiet read on the day bed which offers an extra bed if required.
  • Door to bathroom shared with bedroom three.
