Dawlish

Sat on the South Devon coast, Dawlish is a charming, unspoilt seaside town, with some lovely coastal views and strong Victorian and Georgian architectural influences. Situated on Brunel’s South Coast Railway, one of the most picturesque railway journeys in Britain, the charming town has been popular since the mid 1800’s. The town’s beating heart is the Lawn, with its pretty flowerbeds and tranquil waterfall, which plays host to the famous black swans and many other species of waterfowl. The town comes alive at night, with hundreds of coloured lights giving the characterful town a real vibrancy.

A visit in late August allows you to enjoy the renowned Carnival Week, with its numerous events, processions and a fly past by the Red Arrows! With three beaches, including a Blue Flag beach at Dawlish Warren, there are plenty of choices for a day on the sand. Dawlish also makes a great base to explore Devon, with rail links and Exmouth and the English Riviera only short journeys away.
