Dawlish is a popular holiday town in South Devon.
Situated about 10 miles from Exeter and Torquay, Dawlish is well placed to enjoy both the beautiful coast and nearby attractions. Dawlish is at the mouth of the Exe estuary.
Dawlish town centre
Dawlish town centre has a good selection of shops. These include both high street names and local traders. At the heart of town is The Lawn, a lovely grassed area with bandstand and deckchairs. Through the centre runs Dawlish Brook, upon which the famous Dawlish black swans have made their home.
Dawlish Warren
Dawlish Warren National Nature Reserve is a lovely spot and extremely important for the wildlife if supports. It is popular with both holiday makers and locals. The Warren’s dunes are popular with bathers as they provide shelter in the heat of summer.
Dawlish beaches
There are many beaches within easy reach of Dawlish. Dawlish Warren has its own long sandy beach and there are two beaches close to Dawlish town centre – Coryton Cove and Boat Cove.
Travel to Dawlish
Dawlish is only a 20 minute drive from the end of the M5. Dawlish is served by a train station with frequent services from London, Exeter and Plymouth. Buses serve the town from Torquay and Exeter, and it is also a National Express stop.
