Bigbury-on-Sea is a wonderful place for a holiday. Located in the South Hams on the South Devon coast, Bigbury benefits from one of the best beaches in Devon.
Bigbury consists of Bigbury-on-Sea, a relatively modern seaside development, Bigbury itself – a small village a mile inland - and Burgh Island, cut off from the main land when the tide is in and accessed by a tractor! Burgh Island has a wonderful art deco hotel which was used as the setting of two Agatha Christie novels. Agatha Christie lived in the South Hams just outside Dartmouth. A mile back from the coast is Bigbury-on-Sea Golf Club. The course has wonderful views over Bigbury Bay.
Like the rest of the South Hams, the coast line around Bigbury-on-Sea is stunning and this really is a perfect spot for a holiday. During the summer the area is very busy but Bigbury and the South Hams are a wonderful place to visit no matter what the time of year. There are lovely walks along the coast path from Bigbury west towards Plymouth or east towards Salcombe.
Close to Bigbury-on-Sea, other nearby South Hams towns and villages are Bantham, Dartmouth and Kingswear, Kingsbridge, Hope Cove, Noss Mayo, Salcombe, Stoke Gabriel, Thurlestone, Totnes.
